Welcome to Acme! This busy little berg sits directly on the shores of beautiful East Grand Traverse Bay just east of Traverse City. Often thought of as an extension of Traverse City itself, Acme has lots of great things going for it. The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa dominates the landscape with a beautiful tower that has views stretching for miles in every direction. World class golf and an amazing spa facility can also be found on the property, along with lots of shops, restaurants and living options. Acme is also home to the extensive VASA trail system, host to the North American VASA Ski and fat tire bike race every February. If you are visiting Acme, make sure you stop by the Music House Museum for a one of a kind history lesson into all sorts of interesting instruments! Acme was founded in the 1850s by L.S. Hoxsie. Building a sawmill on Acme Creek, this area quickly became a foundation for the once bustling logging industry. Many of the logs harvested from the Acme area helped build the city of Chicago, as well as re-build it after the great fire of 1871.
